Y Swim is a masters swimming club
for women and men aged 18 and over. We aim to compete in galas and also
to improve our general fitness levels and swimming ability.
Our membership includes swimmers from
a wide age range, up to 70 plus. Anyone interested in sampling a
swimming session should be able to swim front crawl and at least one
other stroke. As you continue to train, your stamina and strokes will
improve as well as general fitness. Swimming with a group means that
you work harder and in a more structured way; you make more progress and
have fun while doing it!
The club is affiliated to
London Swimming and the
Middlesex County Amateur
Swimming Association (ASA)
and competitions are organised in association with the ASA. We aim to
focus on at least 6 galas each year, including local, regional and
national events. If you choose to compete you will usually swim in the
same 5 year age band, in individual and relay races. Relays are always
good fun, whether mixed or single sex, freestyle or medley.
It is advisable to wear goggles, as
the pool water is chlorinated. For some sessions we use pull floats,
kick floats and/or fins. Fins are supplied but you are welcome to bring
your own. Short varieties are the best for swim training. There is no
need to bring your own floats.
Coaches: Hilary Gerlis, Julian
Meldrum, Martin Purcell and Sarah Devereux
Just show up on poolside at the start
of one of the training sessions or contact Gill Hutchinson on 07792
714892.
